Marble is having a revival, and we are very excited!
Marble is a crystallized limestone formed by immense heat, and although marble is found worldwide in mountainous areas, the finest and purest comes from beautiful Italy. Each piece of marble is unique in character, with its colours emerging from the presence of iron oxides and other cheeky hidden minerals. It is hard to believe that such a rough, rugged stone can be made into something so soft and smooth.
Marbles Revival is for home trend enthusiasts who want nothing more than to see the 'new' and how we can inject it into our interiors. Marble is not new to us, and I am sure most of us have marble in our bathrooms and kitchens on countertops, splashbacks, or even tiles. Marble has been a luxury material for centuries, used in the great works of famous past sculptures, grand structures and stately homes for floors, stairs, columns, fire surrounds and other architectural features.
Well, we are no longer in an 18th century or in a time of marbleized madness. We are in the here and now, and it's no secret that marble is making a comeback. It's a huge trend in interior styling right now, but we are not using marble in the traditional sense nor in ways of overindulgence; we are mixing it with different materials, simplifying it and making marble speak for itself. It's all about sleek, simple and sophisticated. I love how accessible marble has become from the high to low budgets and everything in between. We see the most beautiful design pieces from dining, side and occasional tables to ornamental pieces.
No two pieces of marble are the same; each slab has its own personality, characteristics and story. Therefore, I see each piece as a piece of art. Marble will fit into any scheme, and these new on-trend design pieces will contrast seamlessly with your interior's existing darker, heavier pieces. The uses of marble are endless, and its translucency, lightness and durability make it a perfect choice for those looking to add more character and finesse to their home. So here is how we suggest you use marble without going overboard ….
Wrapping, combining and detailing with other materials such as brass, copper, rose gold and steel allows the marble to be the focal point and gives an almost industrial feel, which is very much an Interior style right now. These coffee, side and end tables are just what you need in your living space. A marble slab has never looked so beautiful with simple frames and legs, no gaudy scrolls or too much veining, just simplistic sophistication.
With a more modern rather than industrial feel, this stunningly designed steel frame supports and surrounds the Travertine top. Travertine, like marble, is a type of limestone. The travertine is perched on top, almost like a Halo. Can you guess what this design is called .......' Halo'! A perfect occasional table, one that sits graciously in any room.
The TBC collection that sits very comfortably in The Blanc D'Ivoire showroom is a selection of pieces from the talented designer Tamilla Jazayeri from Tamstuff. These unique pieces comprise an exquisite marble top cantilevered on a bronze powder-coated steel frame.
Wanting to Style and entertain with a little touch of marble? Or looking to keep on trend? Combining marble accessories with glassware for entertaining is the way to go. Little nuggets of beautifully bright marble will add that little luxury to your tabletop or sideboard.
That's our low down on our Marble Must Haves, and the only thing I am unsure about when it comes to marble is which piece I don't want.
We love Marble at Blanc D' Ivoire.
