When it comes to styling and designing our interiors, most of us leave one precious room till last or, possibly, not give it any love at all. Well……. we are going to help you change that! We will help you transform your guest bedroom into the best room in the house and the best guest bedroom in town!

When I started writing this blog, the sun was high and bright in the sky, but we got all four seasons in one day this weekend. If, like many of us, you have had guests visiting, they might have been a little surprised by our more European-like weather conditions, but thankfully, we don't have to rely on the weather in this great city to wow our quests. Wowing our guests starts at home, and the guest bedroom is the place to start. Our interior speaks volumes about our personalities, design aesthetic, and entertaining style, so it's nice to make our visiting relatives or friends feel like they are staying in a top-notch hotel room.

The bed is the focal point in any bedroom; your guest bedroom must look like something from a glossy magazine or, more importantly, like a beautifully presented hotel suite. Pure white high-quality bedding is always a winner; investing in 100% linen will ensure your guests are cool in the summer months, and in the winter months, you can always go crazy with everything from quilts and blankets to lose throws and _, which will make for a very comfortable and luxurious bed. With the clever layering of soft furnishing, you will give your guest room a 5-star feel.

A bed only needs two pillows, but are we designers ever practical with pillows and scatter cushions? The more you have, the better; combine different textures, sizes, patterns and even styles to give your guest bed the wow factor; think plush, tactile and sumptuous. A soft, simple rug on the floor will frame the bed and will feel luxurious when your guests step out of bed to the draw of the aromas coming from the kitchen of freshly ground coffee; this really is the best spot in town, right?

When it comes to adding the finishing touches to your bedside table, chest of drawers, or shelving, think about what your guests would like to see, so everything from vases, jugs, bowls, trays, and ornamental pieces (that are on-trend, of course,) are acceptable to style your guest bedroom to the max. When arranging these items, use varying heights, sizes, shapes, tones, and colours. Grouping accessories in 3s or 5s works best as they are more visually pleasing to the eye and create rhythm, balance and unity. Small boxes or books can create height and volume. Go for a minimal approach when choosing and placing picture frames, mirrors and artwork, as you want to keep the walls manageable; a fresh, bright, airy guest bedroom appeals to most. Styling with a simple arrangement of fresh flowers or an indoor plant, even a candle can give that home-away-from-home feel and is the final touch to any interior.

So, as you wave your guests goodbye and you are exhausted having being the best tour guide and supreme host, the thought might cross your mind that moving into the guest bedroom might be an excellent idea...well, at least until your next quest arrives for a vacation in the best guest bedroom in town!
